Service Projects Chair: Director Linda Healy

 

Timberpointe Project – the 4 Bloomington-Normal Rotary clubs worked for more than two years to raise more than $2 million to fund a secure dining and health facility at Camp Timberpointe on Lake Bloomington .  The Timber Pointe Outdoor Center provides services for persons with disabilities throughout Illinois .  Ron Timmerman was chair.  No funds were allocated from the Club this year.

 

Community Projects – Connie Gentry & Ron Timmerman, Co-Chairs; Members: John Burrill, Mark Hoelscher, Pamela Sweetwood, Dave Wiant, and Jack Wilz.  (The Club supports Safe Harbor, the Compassion Center and the Baby Fold and other local activities in support of our community.)

 

Literacy – Chair: Marcia Dennis.  Members: Penny Cermak, Linda Healy.  (We raise funds to support literacy efforts in our community and work closely with Star Literacy Programs.)

 

Paint the Town – Chair: Sharon McGinnis.  Members: Gordon Bidner, Linda Healy, Gordon Ropp, and Dave Wiant (With cooperation of the Bloomington Rotary Club, we will fix up and paint one or two houses in the Twin Cities.) 

 

Adopt A Highway – Environment – Bill Semlak, Chair; Members: Gene Jontry, Mark Sherman, Pamela Sweetwood, (The Club cleans 2 miles of the Yuton Highway four times a year.)

 

Youth Build – Gordon Bidner, Chair. Members: Todd Anderson. (The Club provides major support to this program who helps young people who are working to turn their lives around through construction technologies.  See YouthBuild of McLean County)

 

Diversity Project(The Club helps the Diversity Project with funds and personal involvement.  The project exposes young people to diverse others of their same age.)

Rotaract Clubs(Our Club supports and provides guidance for the Rotaract Clubs at Heartland Community College and Illinois State University)    Pamela Sweetwood is advisor of the Heartland Club and Mike Breitner and Jim Carter are advisors to the ISU Club.  As of Fall 2008 the ISU Club is not functioning.
